The Colegio Explores Global Collaboration with Japanese Universities on Research, AI, and Academic Exchange


Colegio de San Juan de Letran welcomed distinguished visitors from Japan to explore possible collaborations in research, internship programs, AI literacy, and micro-credentials.

Introducing our guest, was Dr. Von Ralph Dane Marquez Herbuela, Ph.D., from the University of Tokyo’s International Research Center for Neurointelligence, whose expertise highlights innovative pathways for advancing research and interdisciplinary academic exchange. Alongside him was Dr. Eji Tomida, Ph.D Vice-Dean of the Graduate School of Ehime University, Japan, underscoring the value of building international bridges in higher education and knowledge sharing.

Representing the Colegio in the discussions were academic department heads: Prof. Danilo K. Villena, Ph.D., Vice President for Academic Affairs; Asst. Prof. Ian Louie B. Mariano, MEN, Director of the Research and Publication Department; Assoc. Prof. Eric N. Awi, Dean of the College of Education, Liberal Arts and Science, together with Asst. Prof. Desiree Castillo-Bisquera, Area Chairperson of the Psychology Program; Ms. Geraldine Lagman, MBIED, LPT, Principal of Senior High School; Asst. Prof. John Carlo Timajo, Assistant Dean of the College of Business Administration and Accountancy; and Ms. Jeelet Tiongson, MBA-THM, CTMP, Area Chairperson of Tourism Management.

This meeting emphasized collaborative opportunities that strengthen the Colegio's pursuit of academic innovation. By fostering partnerships with global institutions, the Colegio envisions equipping its students with advanced research exposure, meaningful internship opportunities, AI literacy as a core skill, and micro-credentials that enhance global reach.
