The Research and Publication Department recently conducted the Project TORCH: Research Ethics Training: Beyond Compliance - Embracing Ethics for Responsible Research under the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth Bautista, RN, Ph.D. former chair of Research Ethics Committee (REC) of Saint Louis University, Baguio, on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the RICH Room (Research, Innovation, and Creatives Hub) and via Zoom.

The workshop was attended by faculty members from the academic departments of Colegio de San Juan de Letran Manila, as well as the Calamba, Manaoag, and Bataan Campuses, both online and onsite.

During the Research Ethics Training, participants in the Research Ethics Training engaged with topics such as the foundational history of research ethics, the defined roles and responsibilities within ethical research, established ethical guidelines, and the critical evaluation of research risks and benefits. Part of the session activity involved protocol and informed consent evaluation, training attendees on how to assess research in an ethics review board.

This seminar is vital for the establishment of our very own institutional ethics review board in the Colegio.
